PT Substitute Teacher

We are hiring a remote substitute teachers with experience in early childhood, special education and/or languages. Responsibilities include following lesson plans and maintaining a safe environment, directly supervising students, and providing encouraging, learning environment. 

These positions are remote and you will be assigned a specific school to support. School and location preferences are welcome! New grads and retirees encouraged to apply!

PT SPED Teacher

We are looking for highly motivated and skilled Special Education teachers to join our team at BLE Academy. We seek individuals who are passionate about transforming and making a significant difference in the lives of our students with special educational needs. 

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

  • Establishes clear goals and objectives related to the School Improvement Plan; 

  • Plans and prepares lessons, assignments, instructional materials; 

  • Establishes learning objectives consistent with appraisal of student needs, curriculum framework, and knowledge of human growth and development; 

  • Prepares, administers and corrects evaluations and assessments, and records results; 

  • Selects and uses appropriate instructional strategies including, but not limited to, lectures, group discussions, demonstrations, modeling and multimedia teaching aids to present subject matter to students; 

  • Evaluates student progress using appropriate assessment techniques; 

  • Maintains order and discipline in the classroom conducive to effective learning and takes all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities; 

  • Creates a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives; 

  • Counsels pupils when academic and adjustment problems arise; 

  • Confers with parents and students regarding progress/problems of assigned students; arranges and participates in teacher-parent or teacher-student conferences as necessary; 

  • Maintains accurate and complete records according to school policy 

  • Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, textbooks, materials and facilities; 

  • Attends and actively participates in staff/faculty meetings and provides input regarding the planning of instruction goals, objectives and methods; 

  • Improves skill and knowledge base in current trends, research and methodology in instructional techniques, technology, multi-cultural content, problem solving and interdisciplinary connections; 

  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessional educators, student teachers, and volunteers; and 

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

  Requirements: 

  • Teaching experience working with children with special needs or learning disabilities in a school environment.

  • Willingness and ability to work with inclusion teachers to plan shared lessons. 

  • Willingness and ability to plan sensory-filled lessons that embed IEP goals. 

  • Familiar with sensory learning, instructional practices for teaching students with cortical visual impairments or students who are blind. 

  • Ability to collaborate with related service providers and allow them to provide push in services 

PT STEM Teacher

The STEM teacher provides students with learning concepts centered around Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The teacher provides opportunities for students to learn about the past, present and future of technology and organizes and facilitates learning activities that are action-oriented and thematically related to different technological systems such as electrical, electronics, mechanical, structural, bio, thermal, fluid, optical, and mechanical technologies. We seek individuals who are passionate about transforming and making a significant difference in the lives of our students with special educational needs.

  • Delivers STEM-oriented instruction (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through Project-Based Learning methods. 

  • Teaches corporation-approved curriculum while creating a classroom and total school environment that is conducive to learning and is appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. 

  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and develops and informs students of reasonable rules concerning classroom procedures and behavior and maintains a safe and orderly virtual classroom environment. 

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes at the times designated. Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward academic achievement and curriculum goals. 

  • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, curricular units, and projects and communicates these objectives to the students. Assesses the accomplishments of students in a variety of ways on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. 

  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, corporation policy, and administrative regulations. Administers and analyzes standardized testing data and adjusts instructional strategies, as needed, to maximize the probability of student success. 

  • Recognizes the special needs of students with learning disabilities, seeks the assistance of corporation specialists, as needed and/or required, and makes appropriate individualized physical and instructional accommodations within the classroom. 

  • Builds effective relationships with parents and students through regular communication and is available to students and parents for education-related purposes, e.g., virtual open house, virtual conferences, and extra-curricular activities. 

  • Participates in professional growth and development and stays abreast of current research through continuing education, educational seminars, workshops, conferences, membership in professional organizations of the subject taught, and attendance at corporation-sponsored service. 

  • Teaches students to work collaboratively to solve problems and to think logically and creatively. Completes other duties as assigned. Maintains a strong, regular personal attendance record. 

 

  Requirements: 

  • Experience working in the area of STEM either professionally or in a educational environment for two or more years.

  • Experience working with children.

  • Proven history demonstrating the ability to create lesson plans centered around respective subject matter.

  • Ability to collaborate with related service providers and allow them to provide push in services 

  • Self starter
